A joke. Middle school would be more challengeing. A degree mill

At least you are required to do SOME work. Otherwise, a diploma mill. No tests. Ever. Tech support non-existent.

Slow response from academic advisers. Angel program is adequate and fit my schedule. Not a challenging academic program at all.

I can't imagine why anyone would call it a “diploma mill” when it's quite excellent, at least for the education program I was in. I have another friend in the leadership program, and she agreed that it was good. We had to do a paper a week in most classes, at least two group projects each class, plus two posts a week with discussion. Some classes had heavier reading than others, but they offered so many resources for further reading. The textbooks they selected were fabulous, as was the Angel website. Registration was streamlined so students never had to do anything but check to see when it started and what the required books were.

Tech support was weak, but it is everywhere, and so was advising, that's true. But when I called, I always got someone on the phone who could at least figure out my question. I didn't have so many questions I needed to call that often. My only complaints about the projects and professors is that some gave no feedback, grading wasn't totally clear from the start of each class, and paper topics could be a little vague at times. Still, I would highly recommend the program to anyone. I got what I wanted out of it and am pleased with my time and money spent there. Definitely the future of online education.

I was lied to upon registration because the guy just wanted to enroll me and get me in there and made it sound so good. I was pushed into making a decision and after the classes started tried to drop the classes but they would not call me back and did not allow me to drop the class. The degree he signed me up for is not what I wanted and I have been forced to take two classes and wasting my time during the process. I was very unhappy about my time here and will never look at this school for any other thing.

The faculty does not have any interest in errors that happen on the site and will not adjust assignment times because of them. They will not give assignments of any kind to try to pull up a grade they've given because of the site error.

Education wise it fit my need. However if you have to depend on financial aid then go somewhere else. It is going on week 7 of my class and I have no book because I don't have the money to buy one. The classes are only 8 weeks long. Their lack of concern and ability to help is mind boggling. Overall the program is good and I will be done in 10 weeks.

This school is an absolute joke. Distance learning is a wonderful opportunity for many of us who can not for whatever reason attend physical classes, but do not waste your money or your time attending GCU, instead do your research and apply somewhere else.

Never even think about it. This is a school just for rip off. Their price is one of the highest nationwide. They average cost for each credit hour is $395 with most classes are 4 credit hours and up. I had to pay for my stupid advisors mistakes. I had over 6 advisors in 2 years who kept messing with me. My degree requires 120 hours and now i have over 145 hours and still need 10 more. new classes pop up in my face from no where. My plan was to graduate on May 2011. I finished all the required classes and paid $250 for the diploma fees. I was even invited for the graduation event, and 6 months later, my stupid advisor contacts me to say I need 10 more hours to do. I feel miserable. I'm looking for a lawyer and will definitely sue them. Do not do this to yourself. Terrible experience

The classes themselves were hit and miss. Some instructors were excellent, some were terrible. This is the same at many schools. The problem at Grand Canyon University is that there is a constant turnover of financial and academic counselors. No one seems to have any idea what is going on. I have finished my classes and now my degree is being held hostage because I was given incorrect information by my “academic counselor” The college has happily taken $20,000 of my money but now tells me they “incorrectly” awarded me a $1,500 scholarship and I owe the money before I will get my degree!!! I appealed 3 times with zero response. The even told me that their employee made a mistake but refuse to make it right. Christian University??? They just tell you whatever they have to just to get your money!! Look Elsewhere!! If you are already enrolled here, get everything in writing!!

This school fit my needs because of the flexible online environment; however, it appears that for the GCU MSN in nursing education program, anyone can be a student. Trying to maintain a 4.0 is easy if you make sure and re-write all of your group projects in standard English. Some students write as they speak, which can be any language, and you as a group member must try and decipher what they have written, then re-write every sentence to protect your GPA. It is great for the person who is not fluent in English, but extremely time consuming and unrewarding for the person trying to get good grades. This was not true for every class, but in one particular course, I had one person from India, one who spoke Spanish, and another who copied and pasted all of her work, so the score for plagiarizing was greater than 60%. At the end of the course I requested my instructor to write a letter of recommendation for me...AND SHE DID! That was the least I could get for doing the work of 3 other students.

Overall, some instructors are obviously engaged in the courses and some are only present to meet minimum requirements for themselves. They give you all of this research about how great group work is and how you expand your knowledge through collaborative learning, but this is not the case for online learning. Everyone tries to not express their dislike about the group projects, but if you talk to anyone outside of class they say “I hate them!” Try and find a school that has no group projects! It is unnecessary and brutal for the person who is a high achiever. It's great for those who do poorly and are only succeeding because of the grades (not earned) received through these projects.

I would recommend looking for a school that has high marks. This school is unfortunately like a puppy mill.
