Westwood is a rip-off.  Online classes are a joke.  The education is a joke.  And students are the butt of it.

Very expensive.  Was enrolled and half way through a course when admissions notifed me that it could not find my high school records and prevented me from finishing the course even though I paid for it.  Had to get a lawyer to get reimbursed.

It's easy to study from home.  Now I can get a better job and I still got to work my other job while doing classes.

This fit me.  I didn't want to spend forever getting a degree and I still wanted to have a life.  I'm happy with my choice.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!  THE QUALITY OF THIS SCHOOL IS POOR OVERALL....

SAVE YOUR $$$ AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!

Do not go to this school.

1.  Very expensive.  Expect to pay 50,000 + & interest

2.  Material they teach will NOT generate a portfolio where you can get a job.

3.  The system is design to steal your money.  They are great sales people, but once you are in, be prepare to drop your expectation of getting your dream job.

4.  80% of the classes are not related to your career field and the ones that are related do not teach you enough to learn anything.  For example, each class is a nine week course, I have a class where they try to teach 4 different programming languages in one class.  You can't learn anything under this condition.

Final points: Do not go to Westwood Online.  It is not worth the money.  Instead go spend that 50,000 on buying books & software and learn it yourself.  You will probably get a better education then what they provide you.

I took classes at both Westwood DuPage campus in Illinois and then I took classes via Westwood online out of CO.  I am truly disappointed with my experiences through both.  After pouring over thirty thousand dollars into this school I am one term from my associates.  I will not finish my bachelors here.  At both locations, my admittance paperwork and my student loan information was lost over and over again.  I would turn it in and it would disappear.  They are an organizational nightmare with your paperwork and it means redoing it numerous times.

At Westwood Online alone, my counselor was switched out 3 times on me in one year.  How can you get any personalized attention if your advisor keeps switching, not to mention that I wasnt told who the replacement was or how to reach them until I asked.

As at all schools, there are great teachers and terrible teachers.  Unfortunately, the terrible ones outweigh the great one 2 to 1.  I feel that I have learned much more on my own than through this school.  The lack of faculty also means that if you have a serious problem with one instructor, that there are no other instructors in that area and you dont have a choice to switch!  Its almost like high school.  Its sad to say that I am an above average student who made the deans list repeatedly, and I did not feel that I received thirty thousand dollars in education out of this school.

Once at Westwood, you are virtually stuck there.  They will tell you that your credits will easily transfer, but this is NOT TRUE.  Westwood credits are not very transferable to any other school.  Makes me wonder just how valueable my diploma will be....If you are considering Westwood or Westwood online, please take your tuition elsewhere.  You will be stuck in a school that eats away at your money, while not providing the quality education you would expect.

This has to be one of the worst decisions i have ever made in my life.  I am over $35,000 in debt, and it just keeps piling up.  I am two terms away from graduating.  I do not wish to complete this program.  Here is some of my story:

LIE NUMBER ONE:

I was in my interview with the Admissions Advisor with my 1 year old daughter.  I had inquired on the availability of childcare during class.  I was assured, and then reassured several times that childcare would be readily available to my daughter throughout my entire program.  With my start date quickly approaching, I was starting to get nervous.  I hadn't been notified of where to take my daughter, I couldn't go check this place out to see if I even WANTED to take her there, and I didn't have a choice to take day-classes because it didn't “fit the school's schedule.” Well classes started, and I soon found out that what they meant when they had consistently reassured me of childcare was that “there are plenty of childcares out there.  I'm sure you can find one!” I finally did, somewhere in the middle of my first term.  But that is another horror story all together.  It was a teacher's daughter, and that was my mistake.

LIE NUMBER TWO:

In the middle of my fifth term at the school, I had taken a particular interest in “skipping” class.  At least, that's what the Attendance Advisor was telling me.  I was just “ditching class” and being “flaky” according to the Head of the Graphic Design Department.  The truth?  I was hospitalized for a little over a week.  When I got out I reported straight back to class to catch up on everything I had missed.  I was told over and over that my attendance would not be an issue, as I was in the hospital during my absence.  At the end of the term I found out otherwise.  Not only was I not going to get credit for the entire term I had completed (and paid for), but I was being placed on “Attendance Probation.” Basically, because I had “ditched class” for a week and a half, I had to learn my lesson by being kicked out for a full term.  Does that make sense to you?  ...Me either.

LIE NUMBER THREE:

In the time after I had gotten out of the hospital, I was suffering from a few dizzy spells from time to time.  These, would in turn, lead to some form of an anxiety attack, and at times I would lose conciousness or become short of breath.  It was nothing to be concerned with unless I had passed out.  I made sure to let my instructors know this, and they were fully aware that if they saw me experience any of the aforementioned symptoms, not to be concerned, but rather just give me some space and I would be fine.  One day in the middle of class, I started to have an anxiety attack.  I had a stuttered breath, I became light headed, and when I stood up to get something to drink, I fell right back down.  This was the cause of great alarm throughout, not only my classroom, but apparently the entire school.  Within minutes, I found myself flustered with about 15 teachers (who had left their classes unattended to see what was going on), and lying face-up in a medical class with another 15 students surrounding, popping their heads over teacher's shoulders just to get a good look at the person who had merely requested “space.” They asked me again and again and again if I wanted the paramedics to be called.  Again and again and again, they got the same response, an obviously unacceptable one, “no.  If you call the paramedics, I am not leaving.  I am fine if you would only give me some room to breathe.” Five hands on me at a time, feeling for God knows what, and the Executive Director comes in, demanding that the “hospital” be called.  I told him if he did, I would not leave.  He called them anyway.

My school I.D. has a different name on it for moments just like this.  The paramedics arrive, and fill out all appropriate paperwork.  Papers that said I refused treatment.  Things that said that it was advised that I see a doctor immediately, even though there were no signs of anything other than a panic attack and some slight dizziness.  I was told by school officials that I would not be billed for this occasion, as I had told them repeatedly that I did not want them called in the first place.

Three weeks later I received a bill with my school I.D.'s name on it.  I had been lied to again.

LIE NUMBER FOUR:

This one is not so bad, although it is not number four by a long-shot.  To list every thing this “college” has been deceitful about would take more time than I can permit myself to spend on any online “survey.” When I decided to switch to online courses instead of campus visits, I was told that I would need to sit out one term, and then come back as online.  I figured, “nothing else at this school makes sense, why would this be any different?” So I did as I was told.  I sat out one term, and then I was planning on joining back up two months later into the online-program.  About a month after the term started that I was “sitting out” of, I received separation packets from Westwood.  My bills for the school would start to be “full payments” in a mere 2 months, and an official “We're sorry to see you go” letter from a printer somewhere no where near the person who matched the stamped signature at the bottom.  Thanks, Westwood.  You made my decision a lot easier.  At least now I don't have to waste more time and money on your pathetic excuse for an “Educational Facility” that no one in their right-mind accepts as a college.

Excellent college!  You get a quality education and student benefits that aren't offered anywhere else.  You are treated like a student and not a number!

Counselors /Sales people told me that my tuition would be covered by Army National Guard Tuition Assistance.  They said they had military tuition experts and that “I would never see a bill.” NOT TRUE!!!  They so-called military assistance expert didn't know jack shit.  Just finishing paying off more than $3000 for ONLY ONE CLASS!!!  They will send you materials that you don't need just to make money on sales.  For example they sent me a cheap artist's easel and paint set for then charged $400.  They don't even charge tuition by the per credit hour.  Ask them, they do not have a number for per credit tuition charge.  They charge more than most Graduate level courses.  That's why they won't offer a per credit hour amount.  They will just run you through the Tuition Assistance (DEBT) mill then max out your costs... DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL!  THEY ARE DISHONEST AND A RIPOFF!!!  Ring me, I'll tell you about it.  James Nielsen 310.464.1019

I am scared to death!!  I have been trying to enroll for the coming semester, and ironically ....I have experienced some of nightmares posted.  And I was still in the enrollment process!!  I could not complete my registration, because the school would not process my financial aid without applying for an additional Student Private Loan!!  Why the hell would I apply for it....as a “Just in Case” if I run out of Fed/Funds I was only planning on taking two classes per semester!  I am glad I got into a argument with the Financial Aid Supervisor, It was like talking to a nasty car salesman...who kept telling me HOW MUCH I NEEDED to get a co-signer for a Private Loan..to cover a possible Gap..which probably would not be needed!!  As the girl who posted with the lies...my paperwork too was constantly lost and nothing updated, I am a transfer student and I had to constantly fight with a “GHOST” Advisor on classes which I have already taken!!  Pheeeww...I am glad I found this website..I have to call them and make sure nothing was processed and that the Federal Aid is not sent to that school!!  Be aware ....people..be aware!!  It's just crappy..I live in Utah now and the schools for IT Programs out here SUCK!  What am I to do...??  I am a working IT Professional who's 34 yrs old..but want a good IT Degree!!  Help!

Booooooooooooo!  This “school” sucks.  Public libraries are more helpful —and FREE!

Westwood College has been an awesome experience for me, they offered everything I was looking for in a college.  The feedback and support for their students is amazing.  I would recomend anyone to check it out.  The advisors at Westwood are very helpful and knowledgeable.  At Westwood their number one goal is to help students get through to a better way of life by helping them get the degree of their choice.

Attended A&P program at Los Angeles campus, since renamed Redstone College.  Very unprofessional and unethical behavior exhibited by some Faculty and Staff.  Grades, attendance records, financial aid records were deliberately and maliciously tampered with.

Finally a school I enjoy attending!  Westwood teaches you real-world applications.  Everyone is very helpful and responsive.  The University I attended before I came to Westwood was not as helpful.  However, everyone I have worked with at Westwood cares about how I am doing and are quick to answer any questions I may have.  Yes...finally a school I feel good about!

As a former admissions representative at Westwood College I can assure you that it is a total scam.  We were pressured every day on how many students we enrolled and harass daily.  The VP of admissions would threaten our job every day if we didn't put students in a seat.

Please understand that an admission representative does not want to help you!  They are sales people and they can care less if you graduate or make a decent living paying off the enormous student loan debt for their worthless degrees.  I worked at the Fort Worth campus and from day one they trained me to manipulate the less fortunate and abuse the financial aid system.

Here is the lowdown:

1.We received prospective students information from job websites like Monster, and Career Builder.

2.  We will call you continuously until you agree to come in for a “career assessment".

3.We will interview students by using a power point presentation that would uncover your insecurites and use it against you.

4.After the cry fest in the office, we would give you a student tour and show you the classrooms and introduce you to the other staff members to give you the false security that we are a stable environment.

5.After the tour we would take you back to the office and pressure you to submit your application.  If you don't have the money then, hey we can call grandma, we accept payments over the phone.

6.  After students fill out the tremendous amounts of paperwork (that we know you don't understand) we quickly submit it into the system minimizing the chance of you canceling.

7.  We shove you back into financial aid and pray that you don't realize that you signed up for a $80,000 loan for a bachelors degree that is not fully accredited.

8.  You start class and after 14 days we forget all about you.  But you would be our favorite if you refer a friend.

Please watch out for assistant director admission director or executive representatives ( 2 white females).  They will tell you anything you want to hear.

I quit Westwood.  And now I can sleep at night.

Institution of higher learning my A$$.

I am at my wit's end with this degree mill.  They lied to me in every way, shape and form.  Ben my admission counselor (Salesman) stated credits would be transferable, now they post on the website they are not transferable.  Degree can be used to obtain a better position or higher paying job.  Now they state is only gives you the tools to succeed..lies, lies, lies...

Even the Dean, School of Technology of WOL who I met lies to me about future accreditation.  Where does it end?

Westwood has voluntarily dropped from Regional Candidacy.  As I work a second job (nights and weekends) trying to pay for this now $80,000 education that is worthless, trying to stay afloat of this financial h**l that this college create, my anger grows.  So what did I learn that cost me $80,000 and nothing but grief, financial insecurity and embarrassment?  That For-Profit schools like Westwood are out to make money off the backs of those who want to succeed and have dreams by lying and making false promises.  They are in it only for the money and will not supply you with an education that will allow you to enter the job market.  You will be placed so far into debt that no matter what job you apply for, you will not be able to realistically pay it off timely and if you do get a degree from them, it is better used as toilet paper.

I was duped and feel like I?ve been made a fool by attending this joke of a college.  Yes, I am trying to pay off this bogus debt.  I have been in the IT business for over 20 years, hold certifications in Cisco, Microsoft and database administration, all obtained prior to Westwood.  Here's how great they are, of those that graduated from Westwood with me, here is a list of their current positions as of today: Manager KFC, Walmart Clerk, Homeless and Unemployed, Clerk 7-11, Student (went to a real college to start over)

Now the have a placement guarantee that is really not a guarantee.  See the other posts to see how it works.  It's your money that they are giving back to you if they cannot help you find a job.  You are still paying for it and once the six months are up, you are still saddled with outrageous school loans.

No one who graduated with me was able to work in their field of study and failed to keep their promise of job assistance.  Westwood college (joke) needs to be shut down.

Westwood ruined my credit, finances and future dreams.

I am amazed at the amount of fraud, deceit and lies from this degree mill.  Online research has provided me with some interesting information.

On 04/20/2011 the BBB accreditation wassuspended due to recent government action concerning the marketplaceand its customers that demonstrates a significant failure of thecompany to support the principles and purposes of BBB accreditation.  The matter will be reviewed by the BBB's Board of Directors at its next meeting.

On December 14, 2010 the Colorado Commission of Higher Education (CCHE) changed Westwood College's status from Full Authorization to Probationary Authorization due to it's probation order from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has pulled GI Bill funding from all three Texas campuses of a for-profit college accused of misleading advertising and enrollment practices.

At the December 2, 2010 regular CCHE meeting, Commissioners voted to defer action for Westwood College until staff had received notification from the Accrediting Commission for Career Colleges and Schools.  Department staff received a “Continued Probation Order” from the ACCSC on December 9,

2010.  The ACCSC reviewed the September 1, 2010 Probation Order and the school's response to that action at its November 2010 meeting.  It was determined that the school has not demonstrated compliance with the ACCSC's requirements relative to student achievement outcomes.

Additionally, Westwood College was requested to provide information with regard to compliance to several and various state agencies and other accreditors given the allegations of the Government Accountability Office August 4, 2010 report.

On April 6, 2009 the United States of America (on behalf of the United States Board of Education) filed an Amended Complaint in the United State District Court of the Northern District of Texas.  Charges filed indicate the business was in violation of state law prohibiting a failure to comply with Statutory and Regulatory Requirements for Proprietary School Operations.  Particularly, some charges related to unethical and/or misleading recruitment practices, failure to report unsatisfactory job placement rates for graduates, and/or failure to properly register school representatives.  The matter was resolved by a settlement in March 2009.

In 2009, Westwood's parent company, Alta Colleges Inc., of Denver, agreed to pay the U.S. government $7 million to settle a lawsuit accusing the Texas campuses of submitting falsified federal student aid forms.

Wow....and they have the nerve to tell me they are transparent?

Visit westwoodisawful .  com and see the truth.  School Lied and deceived hundreds.  Degrees are worthless and credits do not transfer.
